65% Post-Consumer Recycled Plastic
Made from the highest concentration of post-consumer recycled plastic, Zero Bags give plastic a second life.
Landfill-Friendly™
Zero Bags are formulated to be Eco-Accelerated™ to speed up their own end-of-life in a landfill environment without fragmentation or microplastics.
Independently Certified
ZERO bags have been independently certified by Intertek in landfill conditions and tested to ASTM 5511-02 standards for PE film biodegradation. See our FAQ for more information on certifications and testing.
100% Recyclable Packaging
All our packaging is plastic-free and 100% recyclable.
100% Leak Proof and Durable
100% leak-proof, we designed Zero Bags to be tough on pet waste while being easy on you and the planet.
500 Million
500 million plastic pet waste bags enter landfills each year.
500 Years
Typical plastic bags take 500+ years to degrade in a landfill.
3 Million
Every year, 3 million tons of microplastics are released into the environment.
We created ZERO to address the plastic problem head on.
We don’t want to see plastic end up in landfills, but when it does, we want to ensure its natural end of life will be dramatically accelerated, reducing the build-up of plastic waste.
Landfill-Friendly
How Do ZERO Bags Work?
Zero Pet Waste Bags are formulated to attract microbes and enhance their ability to eat plastics in oxygen-free, microbe-rich environments such as landfills.

Using one of the highest concentrations of recycled plastic in our production process, we give it a second life, pulling plastic from the ecosystem.

Plastic bags inevitably end up in landfills. ZERO bags are designed to accelerate their own end of life, removing plastic from the planet without microplastics.

Why did we create ZERO bags?
'We don’t want to see plastic end up in landfills, but when it does, we want to ensure its natural end of life is dramatically accelerated to help reduce the build-up of plastic waste."

The Results
From Hero to Zero
Typical plastic waste bags take hundreds of years to break down.
ZERO Bags are formulated to enhance the conversion of plastic into biogas and organic matter through microbe consumption without creating microplastics.

Why do we need landfill-friendly bags?
We don’t want to see plastic end up in landfills, but when it does, we want to ensure its natural end of life is dramatically accelerated to help reduce the build-up of plastic waste.
Our Home Compostable bags are a great option if you put them in your compost at home.
However, there are very few if any industrial waste management facilities in North America that accept pet waste for composting or recycling.
This means over 500 million plastic pet waste bags enter landfills each year.
So we designed ZERO as an affordable option for those who don't have a home compost, but still want to help reduce plastic waste.
What are ZERO bags formulated with?
Crafted from 65% post-consumer recycled plastic, ZERO™ pet waste bags are specially formulated with an organic, non-toxic additive called Plasgreen.
Plasgreen is a new organic additive that accelerates plastic biodegradation in landfills and oceans by enhancing the conversion of plastic into biogas and organic matter through microbe consumption of its polymer chains with no fragmentation or microplastics.

Are ZERO bags safe for the environment?
Yes! ZERO bags are formulated Plasgreen, an organic, non-toxic additive that is used in very small amounts in the manufacturing process.
Plasgreen is FDA compliant, Toy Safety Standards compliant and meets EU REACH, RoHS and ESFA apparel requirements.
All of the organic compounds contained in ZERO bags are considered safe for human contact and have no known adverse health effects. The compounds are also not found on the toxic and potentially harmful substance list of CA Prop 65. This California legislation identifies certain toxic and potentially harmful substances and describes limitations for their use.
Do ZERO bags leave behind microplastics?
No. Unlike plastics that photodegrade or have harmful OXO additives, ZERO bags are formulated to accelerate their natural biodegradation process with no fragmentation or microplastics.
What is biodegradation?
Biodegradation is the consumption of the plastic by microbes that convert the polymer chains into gasses and biomass. This happens to plastic over a very long period of time.
Organic biodegradation goes through four main stages. They are Hydrolysis, Acidogenesis, Acetogenesis and Methanogenesis.
ZERO bags are formulated so the plastic goes through these stages at an enhanced rate.
ZERO bags do not "break down" the plastic, they just help the microbes to accelerate the natural process of biodegradation in landfill conditions.
Isn't composting the only form of biodegradation?
No, there is much confusion surrounding the term “biodegradation.”
Different organizations that support different types of biodegradable plastics do represent composting as the only form of biodegradation.
ASTM defines biodegradable plastic as “a degradable plastic in which the degradation results from the action of naturally-occurring microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and algae.”
These types of organisms exist in composting environments, but also exist in other environments as well, such as landfills. “Composting” is not the definitive process of biodegradation.
When ZERO bags biodegrade, what's left behind?
ZERO bags biodegrade as a result of microbial digestion. The process of microbial digestion that takes place in anaerobic microbial environments such as landfills, results in humus, carbon dioxide, and methane.
The carbon dioxide and methane produced through the process of plastic biodegradation are captured by many landfills and turned into bioenergy.
Humus is the degraded organic material in soil, which causes some soil layers to be dark brown or black. In soil science, humus refers to any organic matter that has reached a point of stability, where it will break down no further.
Have ZERO bags been tested and certified?
Yes, ZERO bags have been independently certified by Intertek in landfill conditions and tested to ASTM 5511-02 standards for PE film biodegradation.
Plasgreen, the organic, non-toxic additive in our ZERO bags is FDA compliant, Toy Safety Standards compliant and meets EU REACH, RoHS and ESFA apparel requirements.
If this technology is so good, why isn't everyone using it?
We believe that they will. This is a new additive and new technology takes time to be adopted.
Unfortunately, the complications with earlier technology such as oxo-degradation has resulted in confusion and outdated laws in some markets around the world.
The wording and understanding of bioplastics and biodegradation have been muddled. But as the benefits of Plasgreen in products like ZERO are understood by the community, regulators and manufacturers, it will be widely adopted.
Are ZERO bags a bioplastic?
No. Bioplastic refers to the source of the material. Plastic substitutes made from natural materials such as food waste are bioplastics.
ZERO bags are formulated with Plasgreen, an additive for traditional plastic (including recycled plastic) that accelerates the biodegradation of the plastic in landfill conditions.
Are ZERO bags compostable?
No. ZERO bags are not compostable. While they will accelerate biodegradation under microbe-rich anaerobic conditions like landfills, they will not biodegrade quickly enough to be considered compostable for home or industrial composting.
Are ZERO bags leak proof?
Yes! ZERO bags were designed to be 100% leak proof and durable while being easy on the planet and your wallet!
Will these bags keep odor and moisture off of my hands after pick up?
Yes! Our extra thick bags ensure that the smell and moisture stay contained and far away from your paws – Guaranteed or your money back!
Will ZERO bags fall apart?
No. ZERO bags are only designed to assist micro-organisms in consuming the plastic in anaerobic conditions (no oxygen) and microbe-rich environments such as landfills.
The formulation of our bags does not affect any of the following plastic characteristics:
Strength
Texture
Durability
Appearance
Safety
What's the proper way to store ZERO bags?
You can store your ZERO bags just like any traditional plastic bag. They won't breakdown until they reach an oxygen-free, microbe-rich environment such as a landfill.
Unlike compostable bags, ZERO bags have an unlimited shelf life.
What is the best way to dispose of ZERO pet waste bags?
ZERO bags are engineered for landfills, so you can put these bags in with your regular garbage.
